The location of El Refugio

The apartments of El Refugio are located on the cliffs of La Matanza, about 250 m directly above the sea, in an absolutely exposed location. The villa "Casa del Sol" is located on a completely separate or independent plot of land, right next to El Refugio.

La Matanza is located in the middle of the sunbelt of the north and is also known as the sunniest municipality on the north coast of Tenerife.

The arrival

Car

El Refugio and Villa Casa del Sol are located in La Matanza de Acentejo, Calle Acentejo 72-74, about 15 km east of the tourist metropolis of Puerto de la Cruz. 

Parking

Parking is available on the street in front of El Refugio or in front of the villa “Casa del Sol”. 

Airplane

From Reina Sofia International Airport (South) it is about 80 km, the journey time is about 60 minutes. From North Airport it is about 15 km, the journey time is about 14 minutes.

Public transportation

The bus network is very well developed. Since El Refugio is located on the edge of the nature reserve and it is about 1.5 km to the next bus stop, a rental car is strongly recommended. Discover the beauty of the island according to your own schedule.

Villa Vino

Villa Vino in Lieboch offers space for the whole family or for groups of up to 12 people who want to relax. It is not only an ideal starting point for hikes or bike tours in beautiful western Styria, but is also perfect for motorcycle trips to the southern Styrian wine route.

The villa consists of 4 separate apartments, Suite Elias, Suite Alexander, Studio Verena and Studio Lisa, all fully equipped. Two of the apartments can accommodate 4 people, each with two bedrooms. The other two apartments can accommodate 2 people each.

The villa is rented out as a whole. Our guests therefore have access to all the amenities that the villa offers. Whether you want to relax in the private wellness area with sauna and whirlpool or swim in the large outdoor pool - there is something for everyone here. Enjoy a glass of wine in the in-house wine cellar and use the grill on the terrace on warm summer evenings.

Anyone looking for peace and relaxation is in good hands at Villa Vino. The good connection to the A2 motorway (5 minutes) enables unique trips to the beautiful wine region in southern Styria, to the nearby Piber Federal Stud or to the state capital Graz.

Don Carlos

The “Don Carlos” is nestled on the first floor of the main building “El Refugio”. The charming Canarian balcony which faces south/west, offers guests a fantastic view of the Atlantic Ocean, Mount Teide and the entire north coast of the island.

This apartment features a large, comfortable living/dining room with a spacious dining table and a comfortable sofa that easily converts into a sofa bed, accommodating up to three people. The living and dining area is equipped with a modern Bosch split air conditioning system, allowing for individual heating or cooling year-round. A 50" Smart TV provides access to ASTRA channels, and Wi-Fi is also available. The bathroom invites relaxation: an infrared ceiling heater ensures cozy warmth, while the floor-to-ceiling panoramic window offers unparalleled views of the Atlantic Ocean. A hairdryer, towels, and bathrobes are also provided. The bedroom features a comfortable double bed (160 x 200 cm) with high-quality bedding. Swiss Flex-Health sleep system. Through the large panoramic window, you can enjoy an unobstructed, impressive view of the Atlantic Ocean from your bed.

The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a 4-burner ceramic hob, oven, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine, refrigerator and everything you need on holiday.

The Wellness area with indoor pool can be reached via a spacious external staircase. Directly adjacent is a sunbathing lawn or a cozy spot under palm trees.

El Teide

"El Teide" is the bridal suite/wedding penthouse in "El Refugio." From the enormous panoramic window in the bedroom, you can see El Teide—Spain's highest mountain—and enjoy a fantastic view of the sea. The view of the entire north coast, with its sea of lights at night, provides the perfect backdrop for romantic moments. The spacious bedroom features a double bed (180 x 200 cm) with a Swiss-Flex health sleep system and a high-quality sofa. Moroccan carvings complete the sophisticated ambiance of the living/bedroom. A smart satellite TV allows you to receive ASTRA television and radio channels (including some English and French ones).

In the newly designed dining room there is also a comfortable sofa bed, so that a total of up to three people can be accommodated.

From the spacious bathroom with freestanding bathtub and shower you can enjoy the picturesque view. Hairdryer, towels and bathrobes are also provided. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a 4-ring ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine, fridge, toaster and everything you need on holiday.

On the spacious terrace you can relax and unwind - soak up the sun or drink a glass of wine and enjoy the view of the sea and Mount Teide. A private external staircase leads from the terrace down to the wellness area with sauna and indoor pool.

Delia

The “Delia” is a delightful, detached bungalow with panoramic views over the Atlantic and the Teide. The large palm garden with its lush plants offers a generous space to unwind. Enjoy the beautiful terrace your breakfast or a glass of wine and let your gaze wander out over the Atlantic Ocean and the entire north coast.

The cozy living/dining room features a comfortable sofa bed, accommodating up to three people. The bungalow is equipped with a Bosch split air conditioning system, allowing for individual heating and cooling year-round. A smart TV provides access to ASTRA channels, and Wi-Fi is also available. The bedroom has a double bed furnished with a Swiss Flex-Health sleep system. The kitchen is fully equipped with a four-burner ceramic hob, oven, refrigerator with freezer compartment, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine, toaster, and everything else you might need on holiday. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and toilet. A hairdryer, towels, and bathrobes are also provided.

The Wellness area with indoor pool and sauna can be reached via a curved staircase through the garden.

La Cascada

The "La Cascada" is connected to the wellness area of the El Refugio. From the spacious palm garden you can enjoy an impressive view of the sea with its volcanic rock coast, the Teide and the entire north coast.

"La Cascada," with its large, comfortable living room, handcrafted dining table, and comfortable sofa that quickly converts into a sofa bed, offers a particularly welcoming atmosphere. A smart TV provides access to ASTRA channels, and Wi-Fi is also available. The bedroom features a second TV connection and a double bed (180x200cm). Swiss Flex-Healthy sleep system offers real sleeping comfort. A small room suitable for a cot for the little ones is available right next door.

The Moroccan carvings complete the upscale ambience in the bedroom. From the bedroom you can go directly to your own waterfall with biotope - a cosy place that invites you to dream and linger. The modern kitchen has a fridge, 4-ring ceramic hob, oven, stainless steel extractor hood, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine, toaster and everything you need on holiday. There is also a beautiful shower room with towels, bathrobe and hairdryer, from here you have direct access to the wellness area.

Villa Casa del Sol

The villa "Casa del Sol" is situated on a completely separate and independent plot of land, directly adjacent to El Refugio. The property is an ideal accommodation for discerning holidaymakers seeking privacy and tranquility away from mass tourism. The Costa Acentejo nature reserve begins directly below the property. A beautiful hiking trail starts right in front of the villa, revealing the beauty and unique features of the reserve. The views of Mount Teide (3,718m), Puerto de la Cruz, and the Atlantic Ocean are breathtaking from the entire garden and inside the villa.

The living spaces of Villa "Casa del Sol" exude both exclusivity and comfort. The villa offers ample room for up to six people to experience an unforgettable vacation. The living and dining area is equipped with a modern Bosch split air conditioning system, allowing for individual heating and cooling year-round. A 50" Smart TV provides access to ASTRA channels, and Wi-Fi is also available. 

The large garden, with its native plants and heated pool, also offers an outdoor shower and sun loungers. The property's cozy and harmonious atmosphere is enhanced by several terraces that offer diverse and expansive views. The stunning southwest-facing location not only provides breathtaking sunsets but also views of Spain's highest mountain, Mount Teide. The view of the entire north coast, with its sea of lights at night, is truly captivating.

An outdoor sauna integrated into the garden, crafted from high-quality cedar wood, is a true highlight. The expansive windows open onto the garden, offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean while you relax. A two-person jacuzzi is located right next to the sauna.

Away from mass tourism, you will find pure relaxation in the peaceful and quiet surroundings. The holiday home is also an ideal starting point for numerous excursions in the surrounding area.

The villa offers three bedrooms and two bathrooms, as well as a very spacious living and dining area with a gas fireplace. The fire adds a special touch and ensures a cozy atmosphere even on the few cooler days of the year. The antique wood kitchen is another real highlight. Fully equipped with a dishwasher, four-burner ceramic cooktop, microwave, oven, fridge-freezer, Nespresso coffee machine, toaster, etc., leaves nothing to be desired. A washing machine, dryer, and ironing facilities are located in the adjoining pantry.

The large dining table in the living room easily seats eight people and offers a wonderful view of the entire north coast, Mount Teide and the Atlantic Ocean.

The two master bedrooms are tastefully decorated and equipped with quality beds (180x200cm) of the sleeping system “SwissFlex” equipped, as is the children's/youth room, which has a bunk bed and is adjacent to one of the master bedrooms. The villa has two bathrooms, one with a walk-in shower and the second bathroom with a shower/bathtub.

The own wine bodega With a barbecue area and a brick oven, it offers space for 8 people. Right next door, in what is essentially the "wine cellar", is a small bathroom with a bathtub/toilet in a very rustic style.

The villa is fully equipped with bed linen, kitchen towels, bath towels, beach towels, bathrobes, hairdryers, etc.
